Our client, a long standing and stable commercial bank seeks a Senior Credit Officer to manage the underwriting and approval process for a large portfolio of Healthcare and Middle Market loans.
Reporting directly to the Chief Credit Officer, you will:
Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, training, and retaining employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; setting clear goals and appraising performance on a timely basis. Maintaining high morale, performance, and motivation for the unit.
Manage the Credit Supervisor and the Credit Underwriting Unit.
Assign and monitor credit team workflow and ensure deadlines of the credit team are met and actively managing credit team workflow and addressing/resolving issues such as bottlenecks or missed deadlines.
Establish and manage priorities to ensure the effective and efficient accomplishment of the team’s underwriting responsibilities.
Provide support and guidance to lending departments with credit target markets related to industries, concentrations, loan structuring and terms and conditions.
Participate in screening loans prior to issuance of Term Sheets by the Line of Business. Ensures all analyses and the presentation materials meet the credit guidelines and quality standards.
Evaluate and recommend Risk Acceptance Criteria and Credit policies.
Manage the annual Financial Update process and ascertains risk rating accuracy.
Present new transactions to the Commercial Credit Committee.
Pro-actively identify loans that should be referred to the Special Assets Unit.
Provide guidance to the Special Assets Unit regarding action plans for workout cases.
Serve as a liaison between team and internal, external auditors and compliance.
Ensure compliance with the bank’s lending policies, procedures, and guidelines
Be expected to personally meet with the bank’s most important customers/borrowers.
Play an important role in the due diligence process when the bank evaluates acquisitions of portfolios.
Review and sign all credit presentations and requests which are produced within her/his team prior to approval by appropriate authority. The SCO is also responsible for approving deals within his or her authority.
Requirements include:
10+ years of commercial credit approval experience.
Relevant experience with Health Care and Middle Market segments.
Solid exposure to the financing of business acquisitions; Loan Participations and syndications; Commercial real estate credit experience a plus.

Salary: $200,000 - $275,000 base + bonus
